When a memory-loss police officer restarts a case, he initially solved, he finds that he can’t recall the name of the killer due to a head injury. A daring and unexpected ending that leaves you speechless. This is an intriguing element that made Mumbai Police a key attraction. The movie directed by Rosshan Andrrews had Prithviraj Sukumaran playing a major role.
Thirteen years later, Bobby-Sanjay’s enjoyable story has been redone for Hindi viewers by the same filmmaker, whereas it lacks the impact of the original. The remade version looks like a weakened repetition.

The first scene captures Dev returning to the police station and calls DCP Farhan Khan (Pravesh Rana) to disclosing that he has solved the murder issue. His bike crashes shortly later, seriously injuring his head and sending him to the hospital.
After having the case solved, Dev loses his memory and finds himself in a tough situation: he must inquire into his friend’s murder all over again. Farhan remains calm, confident that Dev will in the end get to establish the fact surrounding the case and bring the inquiry to a close. At the same time, Dev had earlier found the identity of an informant within the police service. As audience, we are involved in finding out the informant giving information to the gangster Prabhat Jadhav (Manish Chawla) ahead of every police crackdown.
I had it wrong when I suspected two informants within the police service, which is an achievement to the film’s skillful telling and direction. The ending part was remarkable at the point when Dev makes Farhan know who the murderer is.
You first ask if Dev has actually lost his memory or if he is only pretending to catch the murderer. However, you soon get to know he is really having difficulty getting his clues together. The good thing about having him resolve the case again is how the scenes are impressively cut and perfectly combined to create an engaging mystery.
Fans of well-crafted action movies that avoids excessive violence should clearly see Deva. Fans of Shahid Kapoor should certainly give it a try. The picture is made much more amusing by the level of insanity he gives to the role he played.
Deva could be a capable mystery if you haven’t watched Mumbai Police. Even so, this version is uncertain to please lovers of the original.
