There are different range of devices and their corresponding accessories that you can make a choice out of, taking the decision could be based on outdoor exercises or barely for the purposes of listening to music.
I opted for open-ear in order to use the Shokz OpenFit for comfortability, though there are other types like bone conduction and a combination of open-ear and bone conduction. On the other hand, the OpenFit Air is a better choice if you’re looking for a more affordable set of headphones.
Initial Glance
To compare the Shokz OpenFit Air to the standard OpenFit, there are many shared features. To begin with, they both have almost the same case, however it has a colored charcoal instead of black and has a bit of matte surface.
The OpenFit Air has more of an open rubber-loop design than a balance on the fin. Moreover, the speaker’s small case is a little bit longer. While the two designs have a similar look, they vary enough that I have at no time unknowingly picked up the Air case when I wanted to take the standard OpenFit.
There is an extra app for firmware upgrades and change of setup, and easy pairing process.

Audio Quality
If you are someone who is has strong appeal for high-quality audio, then using an open-ear headphones wouldn’t be an option to consider. People with such desire often tend to use bone conduction because there is clear delivery of bass and phone calls.
When using OpenFit Air, you have to be very careful because you can experience sound leakage. You need to control the volume level when you are at a public place, when the volume is up those around you can hear whatever, you are also listening.
Microphone
From a personal experience, the Shokz OpenFit Air’s microphone beats majority of other headphones without a boom mic. I can make my personal and business calls under the level of compression. So when riding and making calls it somehow becomes difficult for the other person on the call to notice I’m on a bike.
Comfortability
You get a high level of comfort when wearing the OpenFit Air. At a point, I forgot I had them on, but I later realized it wasn’t once that I had that experience. This most often happened to me till one day I only saw that I still had them on when I was about going to shower after a day’s exercise.
Verdict
The OpenFit Air is the best for you if you really want to enjoy listening to music while having your surrounding under control. People who love to have good music while working, running or riding a bike can opt for this gadget, and also considering the light weight it carries.
